Monday Hygge
Aren't Mondays the worst day of the week (excluding holiday Mondays)? I have dreaded Mondays for as long as I can remember. Having to wake up early, the longest possible time until the next weekend and always a busy day at work. The only thing that is the saving grace of Mondays is my boyfriend does his prank call show after work (https://macronshow.com) and it is the most hilarious podcast on the internet.
Since Mondays come every week and I decided rather to dread the day I should embrace it and be in a better mood. Mondays start on Sunday night for me and I make sure to clean my kitchen, organize my bedroom, pick out my outfit for the next day and pack my bag when I have to go into the office. Knowing that I don't have to rush around in the morning puts my mind at ease the night before. To start the day I wake up early and get into the shower, my hair takes forever to dry so the more time it has to air dry the better before I have to get the hair dryer out. After my shower I get dressed and rather than just use the coffee machine I get my French press out and some high quality coffee to start my day. I always need a coffee to start my day and to have a good coffee puts me in a great mood for the rest of the day, bonus points if it is in the autumn and I get ahold of the pumpkin spice latte coffee creamer.
After coffee I go sit down at my laptop and get to work. I am not usually a breakfast person first thing in the morning but when I finish checking my email and making sure there is nothing crazy going on I make my favourite breakfast. It is my own version of a McDonalds Egg McMuffin. I toast an English muffin, fry an egg, take a slice of old cheddar (or whatever cheese I have in the fridge, and top it off with some sliced turkey and of course get my second cup of coffee with some juice. Usually my boyfriend works nights so he is still sleeping and it is nice to have some quiet time for myself before the day gets crazy and have to do some work and adulting.
After I am finished work we always have about an hour before we have to start The Macron Show. When the weather is nice out we always go sit outside and have a nice chat and a cuppa and when the weather is not so nice we make a cuppa and sit on the couch and watch an episode of The Office to relax before going back to work.
After the show, depending on what time it is, we will split a chocolate bar and finish the episode of The Office or watch whatever show we have been binging over the weekend. I always have candles in my house and so I light some tea lights and my favourite scented candle and we will watch Netflix either in the living room or if we are really tired in bed and have a great cuddle to end the day.
Mondays can be a good or bad day but I think starting it off positively and having something to look forward to at the end of the day can make a day many dread to a day that you look forward to. As always think positively and enjoy the little things!
Happy Hygge!
