Valentine's Day Date Night at Home

Valentine's Day is not a day I look forward to. I haven't liked Valentine's Day since I grew up and it became a day where there is so much pressure on a couple, so expensive and crowded everywhere! I miss the simple days where you would write a little card for all your classmates and have a party in class, what happened to it being so simple?

I make a point to not go out on Valentine's Day. I do not want subpar food in a crowded restaurant that costs a fortune so every year I make a plan to do something fun at home. We make a good meal and so something as a couple. I thought that before the big day hits I should make a list of some fun date ideas that are inexpensive that you can do at home.

Build a Pillow Fort

I have done this a couple of times. I set up some chairs in the living room, get a ton of blankets and pillows and build a comfy fort. I make sure it is in front of the television so we can watch one of our favourite movies and have a tray of sweets and popcorn ready. I also make sure to have a bottle of champagne cooled for nights like these.

Trivia Night

We are big board game people and have tons that we can play as a couple. A game that I have that I am planning on playing soon is The Hygge Game which I received as a gift from my sister ages ago, it asks questions about different topics and is great way to get a conversation going.

Build Your Own Pizza

Since I can make my own food better than any restaurant we can visit on Valentine's Day this year I am going to make homemade pizza dough, get a bunch of toppings and we will be making our own pizzas. I adore mushrooms on my pizza but my boyfriend hates them so we can make our own and have fun making them with a glass of wine.

Scavenger Hunt

Another great cost effective activity is to do a scavenger hunt. I plan to do this on Valentine's Day. I am going to leave a note for when he wakes up and he can go around the house and garden getting his clues for a special surprise afterwards. This can be anything! A sexy surprise, a fun surprise or to go somewhere fun!

I hope you have a lovely Valentine's Day and let me know what you have decided to do!

Happy Hygge!
