How the Weather Makes Hygge
There is nothing I like more than being inside my home when there is a storm going outside. Today in Toronto a storm is rolling in and I am getting prepped to have the most Hygge time I have had all weekend. It has been gorgeous weather all weekend with sunshine and warm summer weather and with that we have taken the opportunity to be outside most of the time. Now that work starts again tomorrow it is nice to be inside with some candles lit and having a great conversation with my boyfriend and one of my best friends.
Where we are staying right now we have a great view of the lake and have had the good fortune to be able to sit and look out the window at the thunder storms we have had here. There is nothing more Hygge than sitting in the candlelight with a storm going outside and having some great conversation or even sitting in silence. The rain falling down outside reminds us how lucky we are and how important it is to slow down and watch mother nature at work.
The weather plays a big part of Hygge and the coziness of the moment. We cannot control the weather but the point is to make a cozy and cuddly atmosphere no matter what is going on outside. Even though the most Hygge weather is having a storm outside you can practice Hygge in any type of weather. In the middle of summer when it has been sunny I light candles, make a cup of tea or pour a glass of wine to enjoy the evening after work, this is how I decompress from a long day.
Happy Hygge!
