Taking A Trip To Scotland

We are heading to Scotland for a few days and I am so excited! I have been to Scotland once before and couldn't wait to go back. Scotland reminds so much of back home in Canada because of the weather, the trees and the friendly people. We are only going from Tuesday to Friday but I think we will get to see a lot. Autumn is my favourite season and I have always wanted to go to Edinburgh during spooky season and I am so grateful for the opportunity to go this year.

I am a planner through and through and it takes me awhile to prep for a trip. I plan most of the activities in advance, book the hotels and transportation, plan and pack my outfits and get the house cleaned and in order. It is my biggest pet peeve to come home to a dirty house so I always clean it before I go. That includes vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, laundry and dishes.

The day of that we travel is always a hectic morning and I need coffee to function so that is the very first thing. Packing my toiletries and makeup is always an ordeal because I need all those items the morning of. Luckily I am very organized and put them out the night before so I can do my skin care routine after my shower and my makeup. Once everything is packed up and ready and there are no dishes in the sink I am ready to go. Our friend Dave came to pick us up and drop us off at the train station in town. We were really early so had time to grab a sandwich, sit in the first class lounge and grab a coffee. Before we knew it, it was time to get on the train. Since it is a further journey we had booked first class tickets and that includes food and drinks. Another cup of coffee later and enjoying the beautiful English countryside as we made our way up north is the best start to our holiday.

The train is the best way to travel in my opinion. It is clean, the staff are friendly and it gets you wherever you need to go quickly. I don't know how to drive here yet so this is the best option for us to travel around the country. As we get closer to Scotland I feel more and more like home. There are more hills rather than just a flat landscape, more trees dressed in their vibrate colours, it is getting cloudy and the weather is similar to Canada at this time of year.

Once we arrived it was off to the hotel before we go exploring. I love the city at night and it is so beautiful. Going up to Edinburgh Castle to see it all lit up is always the first stop for me. When I am walking around in Old Town I always wonder who was there before me and how many different types of people from different times have walked the same steps that I am walking on now. It is a cool thought to be had. Before too long though it was time for bed and we rested dreaming of our next day in Edinburgh.

Happy Hygge!
