The Worst of Travelling

Well we finally made it. I am writing this around 3am British time as I am very jet legged and we are attempting to do a show (https://macronshow.com) but Discord is not cooperating, so frustrating!

Our travel day did not go as planned. When we first got to the airport they made us check one of our carry on bags even though it fit but luckily was included in our ticket. Toronto Pearson Airport was so crowded it was almost impossible to get a seat and impossible to get one with an iPad that worked so we could order a drink. I know airports are supposed to be expensive but we bought 2 sandwiches and it was $28! Talk about a rip off. When we boarded we were in premium economy but sitting one row apart from each other and no one would switch with us so we couldn't sit together for the flight. Once we landed at Heathrow I had to wait to see someone rather than go through the electronic customs as I am coming into the UK with a visa and it took a little longer than expected. Poor James was waiting by the baggage carousel forever. Speaking of baggage with premium economy we were supposed to be one of the first to get our baggage but we were one of the last... Go figure.

We had to get to Kings Cross in order to get our train back home to the north of England so of course we took an Uber. The drive through London was lovely except the app took us to some other random location in Chelsea not Kings Cross station. Luckily our Uber driver was really nice and blamed the app but still frustrating. Once we finally got to Kings Cross we had booked a first class ticket but we were unable to use the lounge because we were not travelling with LNER, but on the website it says any train line is valid for the use of the first class lounge, I guess not! On top of all this both of our carry on baggage broke when we were going through the train station. We sat on one of the few benches there and then were told to move very rudely by the staff because they had to do some work that was directly overhead of us. Finally we could get on the train which was lovely and had a coffee and a biscuit and we were finally home.

Now throughout all this and the horrible travel I decided to put on a positive front and even though there were times when James and I were very annoyed we kept thinking positive... That we are going home and will be in our own home in a few short hours. When we finally made it home we hugged and kissed and we're so grateful to finally be home after months of travelling. There is nothing like sleeping in your own bed.

Now I didn't mean to bitch bitch bitch but it helps with my frustrations to write things down and vent a bit. I am naturally a very positive person and it takes a lot to make me annoyed, angry or upset. Even in the worst of situations there is always a positive side to it. Take when we were waiting in the airport they had one of my favourite beers there, in the premium economy section they had actual glasses and cutlery, at Heathrow our Uber came quickly, getting lost in London I got to see parts I haven't seen before and at Kings Cross I was able to be basic and got a pumpkin spice latte (PSL forever!).

Well that is all for now but I have a few updates and exciting things happening this week that I can't wait to share with you. Follow me on my Instagram and TikTok to see all the live updates and come back here for more detail.
